GARIBALDI

by Sara Morgan

Guiseppe Garabaldi, an Italian general, nationalist and politician in the mid-19th Century, was famous for his courageous battles in both Europe and South America. His wife, Anita, became his companion-in-arms, fighting side by side with her hero husband. It was Anita who enlightened Giuseppe to the "gaucho" culture, which resulted in his trademark uniform: the red shirt, the black cloak and the sombrero hat. It was in Uruguay that his army wore the red shirts as a symbol of Garibaldi and his followers. In the true flamboyant tradition of Giuseppe Garibaldi, these fabrics are bold, beautiful and dramatic!
